Windwheels

The intervention Cataventos (Windwheels) took place on a vacant lot in the heart of “Crackland”, one of the most dilapidated parts of downtown São Paulo, rife with drug use and crime.

Eight large sculptures turning in the wind generated aeolic energy for a light bulb system that illuminated the work. This intervention was the result of a year’s research into alternative energy sources and recyclable materials. The work created a field of creative energy that challenged the apocalyptic cityscape of Crackland.
