Stays

Escoras (Stays) is an paper project intended to be held in the standing void beneath the Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (Masp). The idea of appropriating the external architecture with hundreds of wooden stays questioned the museum’s institutional sustainability during a time of administrative crisis.

On the occasion, Masp was in such a state of mismanagement that it had its electricity cut-off during an exhibition of the Impressionist painter Edgar Degas, exposing Latin America’s largest artistic collection to incalculable risk.
