Celestial

Celestial is my third series of paintings, and the first in which I fully embrace my interest in color and abstraction.

I took photos of snatches of sky after storms and used the images to compose backgrounds. Biomorphic forms dominate the composition, while thick layers of oil paint construct a new perspective captured by the digital lens. The horizon disappears beneath fragments of sky as golden containers float in colorful, enigmatic space, redolent of maps and satellite images.
