Vehicles

I began my first series of paintings in 1996. Back in São Paulo after a trip along the Pacific coast and into the Andes, I used the photos I’d taken to produce realist compositions featuring old vehicles abandoned on the natural landscape.

The series Veículos (Vehicles) conjures the introspective and solitary atmosphere of this journey. The vehicles are symbols of transit, fleeting elements of initiating experiences.
